Residential Solar Panels

****Since all the comments seem to be either 100% positive or 100% negative about this solar technology i want to clear up some some misconceptions. First of all I’d imagine that takes years to set up the the precision equipment for 2 of the largest solar panel manufacturing plants in the world and be able to print solar photo cells as quick as newspaper. After the plant was completed in 2007 the first focus was on commercial uses and their first costumers where municipal utility companies. This sounds to me like a excellent business tactic to help you establish a successful business from the start. Next they started offering it to electrical contractors as part of a beta testing process so they can work out the kinks that arise from scaling down their panels from large commercial ones to the ones that you can use on your house. That is where were at today. After the beta testing they will start offering them to the general public. Their website even has a place to enter your email address to be told when this technology will be available to you the home owner. Its a process and that apparently some people out there believe happens over night. This company immediately got more financial backing then needed. Google is one of the largest investors so I believe its all legitimate. There are two benefits from the use of alternative energy. It will save you money but also it means that energy produced is done so with out making pollution. This is excellent for everybody. Even though the technology isn’t yet available for you to install on your home to help save money the fact that utility companies use it to make energy still means means less pollution for us all. . ***** New technology uses cheaper materials instead of expensive silicon crystals. These new solar cells are projected to cost 1/10th of what the more expensive silicon cells cost.

So how durable is this stuff. One of the main drawbacks of solar is that durable panels are expensive, and affordable ones are junk.

    yeah …

    @steveman223

yeah right nothin is coming and even if it did they will stil tax the out of you for the free energy device. the oil cartel is working very hard to attach itself to these inventions to make sure they dont abolish there profits. nothin excellent is coming we wil still be heavily taxed and controlled.

  • So why don’t you …
So why don’t you just start selling it for affordable price? I don’t reckon making solar cells or panels is that expensive. We have machinery to make tiny electronic parts,so why not build more to make solar panel factory and finnaly start to give that thing out for a few cents per watt!!!you will see the quick transformation from burning coal or buying oil..

Really some people say 15 years, the people that mine it say because of better extracting processes their is enough to sustain us long term. who knows what the truth is but 40 times more silver is mined then indium and its 3 times less abundant on earth.

  • Pipe dream.

    They …

    Pipe dream.

They are only selling to government agencies and utility companies.

The average homeowner will never see low cost solar cells unless they buy scratch & dent silicon cells for $2-3 a watt.

I despise companies who make these claims with no intent on making the technology available to the general public.

  • OverUnityNow1 – …
OverUnityNow1 – thats a excellent price for solar panels ($2/watt). The place I live requires UL certified panels when connecting to the grid. Are the solar panels that you mentioned UL certified? I am considering a 1000 watt ground mount array so I can install it myself and then have an electrician connect the final wiring.

  • I have found 200 …
I have found 200 watts panels for $400.00

At 8000 watts the cost would be $16,000.00 with out installation.

You’re right about the over charge from installers, most panels run $3.00 to $2.00 per watt…..
